The Highest Leverage Move in Business

Your business is only as strong as its weakest link.

One bottleneck. One inefficiency. One blind spot.

Find the bottleneck and then fix the damn thing.

That’s it.

Most entrepreneurs waste time optimising the wrong things - tweaking branding, testing new strategies, consuming more content - all in the name of trying to get to that next level when in reality, that's not the solution.

There is ONE constraint that exists within you or your business that holds you back.

Maybe it’s your focus (you’re scattered across too many tasks).

Maybe it’s your time management (you’re spending hours on low-leverage work).

Maybe it’s a specific aspect of your systems (things break every time you try to scale or throughput is limited).

So how do you know what your bottleneck is?

Well, you could guess, you could look for where growth feels hard

• Are you working more but not earning more?

• Are you stuck at a revenue plateau?

• Do you struggle to keep up with the business you already have?

Typically if you can figure out the problem, the bottleneck isn't far away.

But still, this is nothing but a guess.

You might be right, you might be wrong.

And so the only REAL way to know what your bottleneck is?

Track data.

If a touchpoint of a system can be measured with a number, track it.

Assign KPI standards to each metric (ChatGPT is great help with this if you give it enough context around your business, offers, niche, funnel etc)

If a number is below its KPI standard, it needs to be improved.

But likely you'll have multiple metrics below their standards, so which is the bottleneck? Typically, it's the metric earliest in the system as it's restricts the throughput of the entire system after it.

You should also create a business scorecard and a personal scorecard - 2 spreadsheets which track the key metrics in your business and in your personal performance - these are fantastic for providing a quick glance overview of your key metrics.

Once you remove the bottleneck - whether it's a step of your system, your identity or your performance - everything flows.

Your business levels up overnight, you have more leverage and you work less
