Incorrect Paradigms


The number 1 problem for most entrepreneurs is this - an incorrect paradigm.

Your paradigm is simply the lens through which you view reality - it’s the beliefs you have about yourself (your identity) and the world.

And here’s the kicker…

Those beliefs dictate the actions you can take - after all, it’s not possible to do something you don’t believe you can do.

For example, if you’re entirely convinced that you can’t walk, then guess what, you’ll not be able to walk.

There’s actually an insane number of records of this happening - someone believes they can’t walk but then someone does something to change their beliefs and all of a sudden they can walk for the first time in years.

The same principle applies to everything else in your life, including your business.

Your beliefs can cause you to not realise the mistakes you’re making.

They can guarantee you don’t act in alignment with objective reality, that you pass up opportunities for growth and that you self-sabotage.

If you don’t believe that, for example, cold emails work for signing clients, then you’ll either never try them or you’ll suck at them.

If you don’t believe that you’re capable of growing your business, then you’ll not grow it.

The result is that you can work your damn ass off, but because your beliefs stop you from doing the right things to grow your business, or ruin the quality of your work, you’ll never grow.

If you want to unleash your business, rewire your paradigm.

Insufficient Performance

Here’s a harsh truth…

If your business isn’t growing, the work you’re doing isn’t good enough.

It’s not a little-known secret that the higher the quality of your work, the better your results - and the better your results, the faster you’ll grow your business.

So, take a good long look at yourself.

Realise that your business might not be growing like you think it should be because your world isn’t up to as high a standard as you thought.

But don’t panic, you can fix this.

There are typically a few reasons for low work quality - it’s either because you’re new to what you’re doing, in which case there’s nothing you can do but keep showing up, keep practicing and keep learning.

But more often than not it’s a performance issue.

High-quality work requires a tonne of mental energy and if your performance is lacking, your mental energy will be lacking - which means you have less energy to put into the work, meaning lower quality work, worse results and slow growth.

If you want to unleash your business - optimise your energy and performance by dialling in your sleep, nutrition, movement, behavioural habits and daily structure.

Unguarded Focus

There will be some people, although, very few, who have their performance and energy dialled in.

So what if your performance is dialled in but your business still isn't where you want it to be? Well then, unguarded focus is likely why you’re not growing.

And this is focus in 2 contexts;

  • The micro

High quality work requires not only a lot of energy but also flow.

Flow requires deep focus and the absence of distractions.

If you’re not carving out time every single day to do deep work or if you’re not able to just cut out all distractions and drop into a state of deep focus and flow, then your work will suffer and so will your business.

  • The macro

Your business won’t grow if you’re constantly changing strategy, constantly changing businesses or never sticking to 1 thing in your business for long enough to see results.

For example, maybe you launch a new funnel, run it for a week and decide to close it down because it’s not bringing you in enough leads.

But maybe you only drove 100 people to that funnel - that’s not a big enough sample size to get a true representation of the effectiveness of your funnel!

If you’re not guarding your micro focus with daily flow states and deep work or if you’re not guarding your macro focus and sticking to things for long enough, then it's no wonder your business isn’t growing.

The Wrong Things

But let’s say you’re doing all of these things we’ve covered.

You’ve got a great mental paradigm, you’re full of energy and you’re guarding your focus - or maybe you’ve got none of these things.

If your business still isn’t growing the way you want it to, it’s going to be because you’re working on the wrong things.

Look, there are only really 3 tasks that will grow your business and bring money in;

  1. Generating traffic (content, ads, outreach)
  2. Closing clients (setting, closing)
  3. Fulfillment (client work)

And until you’re at around $100k / month, they are the only 3 tasks you need to worry about.

You either work on doing these tasks directly or you work on building systems to do them more effectively or you work on improving on how you do them.

You would be surprised by how many business owners (likely you included) simply just don’t work on these tasks, or at least, don’t prioritise them and then wonder why they’re not going.

If you’re not doing the only 3 tasks that grow your business, or if you’re not prioritising them, then of course your business isn’t growing.

Anything and everything else is a waste of time.

So if you want your business to grow, put 80%+ of your efforts into these 3 tasks.
