You DON’T Fall To The Level Of Your Habits.

Sep 12, 2024

You fall to the level of your habits”

“You fall to the level of your systems”

How many times have you heard either of these?

I can guarantee you it’s a lot, they’re thrown around our world like nothing else - and not for no reason. There is some merit behind them and the idea is great.

But what if I was to tell you that they’re both wrong?

They’re not wrong in that you CAN fall to the level of your habits and you CAN fall to the level of your systems - but if you were to look closely, you would see that they’re not what you fall to.

You fall to something much deeper, much more omnipotent.

You fall to the thing that dictates the habits and systems you have.

You fall to the thing that dictates your entire life.

You fall to the standards set by the identity you have for yourself.

Remember (from previous emails of mine) that you CANNOT act outside of the identity you have for yourself. It dictates the actions you deem possible and hence, the actions you can and will take.

You see, your identity is like the earth.

You can jump and get off the ground - but you’ll not get far and you’ll be pulled back down to earth.

Or you can get in a plane, take off, and fly - you’ll get a bit further away than jumping, but eventually, you’ll still be pulled back down to earth.

Essentially, if you do anything outside of what your identity deems possible, you’ll be pulled back down to earth - back down to your standards.

And the more limiting your identity (or more specifically, the beliefs that make up your identity), the lower your standards will be and the farther you’ll fall.

It’s these standards that determine the level of your habits and systems.

After all, your standards are just the minimum quality of actions you will take and accept for yourself.

But as an entrepreneur, here’s the problem…

If your standards (ie. the minimum quality of actions you’ll take) are not at the level necessary to grow your business, you’ll not grow it.

Think about it - certain actions got your business to where it is now.

And to get it to that next level, you'll need to take different actions - all change in outcome requires a change in behaviour.

But if your standards, that you will inevitably, undoubtedly, fall to aren’t the right actions needed to grow your business, it won’t grow.

And so if you want to grow your business, you need a higher baseline.

You need the actions you take on your worst day to still be the right actions needed for your business and your goals.

You need a level of personal standards that if you fall to it, you’ll still be capable of achieving your goals.

A minimum standard of action that even on your worst day, is still impactful and capable of driving you and your business forward.

Because you will fall to these standards. It is inevitable - remember, you cannot act outside of your identity, you can only act according to the standards of how you see yourself.

But this doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

You can just shift your identity, remove limiting beliefs and raise your standards to such a level that you don’t even have to fall to meet them.

You can have standards so damn high that your new worst days are better than your current best days.

You can have an identity with standards so high that you’re consistently operating at your best, even on your worst days - and in turn, growing your business, even on your worst days.

And if you want to make that happen, click here to apply to work with me.
