You’re not who you need to be

Here’s a harsh truth:

The version of you that you are now, is not the version of you that will get you to where you want to go.

Think about it - certain actions and certain decisions got you to where you are now and so the only way to get past where you are now is to take DIFFERENT actions and make DIFFERENT decisions.

And with your current goal being bigger than your last (due to the nature of achievement increasing the potential of what you can try to achieve), those actions and decisions can’t just be different.

They need to be better.

Big goals require new heights. New heights require new standards. New standards require a new you.

So it’s time to lock in.

Because the same old habits and the same old ways of thinking won’t create new results.

If you want to achieve your goals and grow your business - you can.

But you need 3 things;

  1. To know what it is you want to achieve
  2. To know who you need to become to achieve it
  3. An unwavering commitment to making it happen

You see most entrepreneurs, when they want to grow faster, seek out more business advice.

They’re convinced it’s their marketing strategy, sales process or copywriting that’s holding them back.

When in reality, you don’t need any more business advice.

You know what you need to do.

You just need to become the person capable of doing the things you know you need to do to a high standard.

Instead of looking at new funnels, look in the damn mirror and see how you each time you sit down to do “focused” work, you sit with your phone beside and never actually focus.

Instead of looking at new sales scripts, reflect and see how your limiting beliefs around money and sales are causing you to sabotage your sales process.

You don’t need more business advice but you do need the habits, behaviours, skills, mental models and beliefs of the person capable of growing your busienss.

And you need to cut out the habits, people, behaviours and beliefs that are holding you back.

You must make room for the person you need to become.

So set your goal.

Figure out who you need to become to achieve it.

Then do whatever it takes to become that person.

Look at your performance (focus, energy, effectiveness), habits (deep work, sleep, nutrition, movement, planning, prioritisation) and mindset (beliefs, mental models, identity) and then see what needs to be removed, improved or completely overhauled.

Don't make progress some abstraction that you're not sure how to actualise.

Compare yourself to who you need to be - and then make the changes you need to make.
