Why You're Not Growing (and what to do about it)

“Why the f*ck am I not growing”

I asked myself this almost every day for the first 12 months of my creator journey.

And looking back, the answer is obvious.

But when you’re in the middle of it, when you’re experiencing it, it’s harder to zoom out, look objectively and decipher the problem.

I kept showing up, I kept creating, but nothing happened.

It was like shouting into the void.

Until one day I came across the book “Turning Pro” by Steven Pressfield.

Holy shit.

My problem was screaming at me in the face.

It was obvious.

I was acting like an amateur.

Sure, I would show up daily and create but I didn’t give it the respect or the effort it deserved.

I would half-ass it, rush it, and just get it done.

But at the time, I thought I was giving it my all. I thought I couldn’t try any harder.

When you act like an amateur, a few things happen:

1. You think you’re trying harder than you are

2. You get no results

3. You’re inconsistent

4. You have no personal or professional growth

5. You’re unable to live life on your own terms

Yet, 95% of people are running around acting like an amateur.

Showing up when they feel like it, waiting for inspiration.

Acting surprised that they’re getting amateur results.

Understand that until you start to act like a professional and give it (and by it I mean you're entire life) the respect and effort that it deserves and requires, you’re never going to:

• Get results

• Grow as a person

• Have high self-respect

• Live a more fulfilling life

   

If you want professional results, act like a professional;

Show up every damn day

The best way to do this is to plan your day and schedule your work blocks.

60-120 minutes of nothing but pure focus on 1 task.

These are non-negotiable.

View life as inspiration and idea generation

Every day you are living.

You’re experiencing, consuming, and thinking.

Start to consciously look for ideas and inspiration in your everyday life.

Try harder

Honestly, most people aren’t trying hard enough.

Simple.

The volume and quality of work that’s needed for success is 10x more than you think.

Alex Hormozi has a story around this, he handed out 50 flyers for his gym and got 0 leads.

He got talking to his mentor who said they don’t even test with less than 5000.

There are levels to this game.

And if you want professional results, you need to put in the work of a professional.
