For the first 19 years of my life, I did what most people do - I followed a plan that was set out for me.
You see there’s a traditional blueprint to life for people to follow.
-
Go to school
-
Get good grades
-
Go to university
-
Get a job
-
Get married
-
Have kids
-
Spend your day hating what you’re doing
I followed step 1 and step 2 with ease.
Going to school, getting good grades, and setting my sights on a future career.
But it never felt right.
There was always a part of me that knew this wasn’t what I wanted.
That I couldn’t stand being told what to do, when I could go on vacation and all the rest.
And I think it’s because I’ve always understood, at least to some degree, that we only have 1 life here on this earth and I don’t want to waste it not doing exactly what I want to do, exactly when I want to do it.
But, still, I wasn’t fully convinced, or maybe I wasn’t fully confident in my ability to stray from the traditional path.
Either way, I started step 3 and went to university.
Twice.
I dropped out of sport and exercise science and started finance.
In between the degrees, I was in a limbo state with a lot of time to think for about 6 months.
And that’s when I realised that I hated the traditional path.
I dropped out of sport not because I hated the degree or the future prospects but because I hated this blueprint that was already laid out for me.
However, at the same time, I realised I had some control.
I had just dropped out.
For the first time in my life I was off the beaten track, I was free to do what I wanted when I wanted (limited by finances at the time)
And I realised that if I could just drop out, move countries (a story for another time) and be free, what’s stopping me from doing this for the rest of my life?
What’s stopping me from scrapping the old traditional blueprint and making my own custom blueprint?
Initially, my answer was “money”.
But what’s stopping me from earning money?
Me.
I had already tried a few online business models to make some extra cash at uni (none of them worked)
But I had hope, I had seen what was possible.
I just had to become the architect of my life.
So that’s what I did.
I spent the months before starting finance crafting and designing this new path for myself.
And 1200 days later, here I am.
Over half a million followers. A 6 figure business I run in 2-4 hours a day. Freedom. Autonomy. Options.
I became the architect and the builder of my own life.
And in this newsletter, I’m going to tell you the exact process I followed to build my own blueprint.
Becoming The Architect:
Step 1: Reframe
You’ve been programmed and conditioned from birth to follow the traditional blueprint.
Your parents. Friends. Society.
They’ve all followed it. They all want you to follow it as well.
But if you want a life on your terms, you need to design your own blueprint.
To do that you need to break free from the conditioning and reframe yourself in your mind.
You are in control.
You are the designer, the architect, and the builder.
You can curate your entire life to your own specifications but only if you take the frame of the architect.
And it’s simple.
Understand that you have full control of your life and what you do.
Right now you could do whatever you wanted to do.
You could stand up and jump on the closest table - yes, people might look at you funny, but you COULD do it.
You could get up and go for a walk - yes, if you’re in work etc there might be consequences, but you COULD do it.
Understand this.
At any moment you can do whatever you want
You are the architect of your life.
And as such, if you can control what you do now you can curate your future based on your current actions.
Step 2: Life tapping
Life tapping is one concept that completely changed my life.
Take out a pen and a journal.
Sit down and write about your dream life, crafting the dream version of every single area of your life.
Physique. Mindset. Habits. Friends. Partner. Hobbies. Business. Income. House. Dog. Car. Health.
Everything.
You are the architect designing your dream life.
The more detailed you can be about the more areas, the better.
It’ll create emotion and paint a mental picture of this life in your mind.
And then write about the worst version of your life.
For every single area you wrote about in your dream life, write about the worst version.
The version you don’t want.
This will provide some motivation as to what to run from.
Step 3: The blueprint
You’ve got the vision for what you want.
But every architect needs a blueprint, a plan to build that vision.
So here’s what you do;
You need to set goals in lever-moving areas.
I recommend a financial goal, physical goal and purpose-related goal (related to something you want to build)
If you’re not a fan of the traditional path and want to live life on your own terms, I would highly recommend making your purpose-related goal building your own business.
I’m a big fan of the creator business model (especially for a fulfilled life) - you can read about how to start your own creator business here.
When you make progress toward these 3 goals and improve in these areas, they create ripples that improve every single area of your life.
Make sure the goals are reasonably unreasonable, specific and with a deadline.
And most importantly, make sure that by achieving these goals you move toward your dream life from step 2.
You then want to break these goals down into a daily action.
A task that if you complete every single day will move you toward that goal and over time, help you achieve it and move toward your dream life.
These tasks are your number 1 priority.
They’re non-negotiable.
Step 4: Be professional
You are both the architect and builder of your life.
Will you be an amateur? Showing up when you feel like it. Dressing like a tramp. Shit habits. Not following the blueprint you’ve designed.
Or will you be a professional? Showing up every damn day. Dressing well. All the right habits. Following the blueprint you’ve designed.
The choice is yours.
But only one option will help turn your vision into your reality.
With every single day, keep this in mind:
Do today what will make you proud tomorrow.
You have the ability to design and curate your reality.
But first, you must become the architect, scrap the traditional blueprint, create your own, and then build the life you want.
It’s not easy.
It’s not quick.
It’s not always fun.
But it’s always worth it.
