Why Most Creators Never Make It
Nov 17, 2023Life is weird.
You grow up, being told to take the safe option - get good grades, go to university, get a job… and well you know the rest.
But what they don’t tell you is that every path has risk.
Even the cherished “safe option”
Sure, it might be “safe” because you’re guaranteed an income
But what about the risks nobody talks about?
• Limited income (very few positions allow you to earn as much as you want and at that, you normally have to work your entire life away for your dream income)
• Limited freedom
• Limited autonomy
• Limited potential
• Lack of fulfillment
I could go on, but I’ll leave it there before I start ranting.
So every path has risk - even your “safe option” and even the glorified creator business.
Most creators never make it.
In fact, more than a third of creators never make more than $1000.
And an even greater percentage slave away their entire days and lives just to make that $1000.
But why?
Why do some creators spend 8+ hours a day struggling to make half a months salary whilst some creators make 100s of 1000s of $ working just 2-4 hours a day?
There are tonnes of reasons.
But the primary reason?
They blend in. They don’t stand out.
You see, the old ways of social media and personal brands revolved around “niching down”.
Choosing 1 particular topic that was the only thing you were allowed to create content around.
What a load of bullshit.
People want to follow people.
And people aren’t one-dimensional.
Think about it, you’re interested in multiple things so you’ll follow people who primarily talk about those areas.
But if a fitness guy talks about mindset, you don’t unfollow them.
You likely respect them more and appreciate them to a greater degree.
Why?
Because they’ve shown you more of them, their interests and their life.
You see, niching down is dead.
The way to succeed with a creator business is to create a niche of one, to become your own niche.
To make your brand a distillation of you, your life, your experiences, failures, achievements, lessons, successes, mistakes.
Sure, it helps to have content pillars to structure your content and brand, but the days of putting yourself inside a box that limits what you can talk about and dampens your personality are over.
So you have a choice.
You can either;
-
Take the risk of niching down and potentially make more money in the short term, but long term burn out, grow tired of your brand, lose followers as they grow tired of your content and watch your creator business fall of a cliff
Or
-
Take the risk of creating a niche of 1 and potentially make less money in the short term, but long term create a powerful personal brand that has true fans, that you’re passionate about, and gives you the freedom, autonomy and options to live life on your terms - whilst making an impact and income
The choice is yours.
Naturally, the next question is
“How on earth do I create a brand that is a distillation of my life, allows me to explore my curiosities, generates a shit tonne of money and gives me freedom, autonomy and options?”
Well, I’m revealing how to do it all in just 2-4 hours a day in my live cohort Done In 4.
Enrollment closes in 3 days and there are only 40 spaces left
